What’s on

In today’s Poznan, Ostrów Tumski appears to be an oasis of peace and quiet. In the middle of the noisy and rushing city, between rivers Warta and Cybina, stretches an island isolated from restless everyday life in the city by busy streets with heavy traffic.

It requires both konowledge and imagination to begin, from this idyllic place, a travel thousands of years back to the past, to see Ostrów in the 10-th century. At that time, the area was not quiet and peaceful. Instead, it was vibrant with life. One thousand year ago Ostrów Tumski was one of the center of the new created Poland. Its inhabitants were very busy with their everyday duties. And they were these people who had laid the foundations for a new state soon to be named Polonia. Ducal Family, members of a court, clergymegen, warriors, servants, craftsman, tradesman – each and every person residing in the island, for shorter or longer, had left marks of their presentse.

Our mission and passion is to reconstruct the past, to call up people whose names were recorded in historical annals, and those who will be unknown forever.
