The modern architecture of the Reserve combines the distant past with the present age. The tourists can see the beginnings of Poland like archaeologists do, going 6 metresdown into the ground and discovering the achievements of mediaeval engineering  – wooden constructions of the walls surrounding the Poznań stronghold and the remains of the Renaissance wall encircling the Isle. The visit begins in the cinema room with the screening of a 3D film, and the up-to-date multimedia, hologram and audiobooks help to learn about many aspects of the world in which our ancestors lived. Excavations have shown that in the 10th century the area was a vibrant centre of political, economical and religious life. There the most important decisions on the nature of the emerging state and its cultural affinity  were made.

Visitors are also invited to seasonal exhibitions: Spring comes with the birds and Read and carved in wood.

The project was funded by the Regional Operating Programme for Wielkopolska for the years 2007-2012 managed by the Marshal Office of Poznań Voyvodship. The remaining expenses were covered by the City of Poznań.

The Reserve is  a part of the Poznań Archaeological Museum.
