The first “Dymaczewo Conference” was organised in 1980 in Dymaczewo, a small tourist village located in the vicinity of Poznań. Following that first symposium, the meetings devoted to the prehistory of Northeastern Africa have been held every four years under the auspices of the Commission for Later Prehistory of Northeastern Africa (LPNEA).

The tenth LPNEA symposium organized by the Poznań Archaeological Museum and the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences will be held in Poznań. Archaeologists and specialists from other fields of research (geomorphology and geology, human ecology, climatology, archaeobotany, archaeozoology, physical anthropology, rock art etc.), working in Northeastern Africa and neighboring regions, as long as their work is topically connected, are invited to attend. Proceedings of each symposium are published in a special series titled “Studies in African Archaeology”.
